Great to see work progressing on our project outside Workington Leisure Centre to create a new events and activity space. Thanks to Thomas Armstrong Construction Ltd. for their work so far.
The funding for the project has come via ‘accelerated funding’ from the Government’s Towns Fund initiative. We have a bid in to the main fund for Workington for a range of regeneration projects which could see an investment of around £25m in the town. Work commences on 'outdoor event area' project near Workington Leisure Centre.Our Civil Engineering & Highways division commence work this week to create a new outdoor events and activity area in Workington.
The project includes new pathways, paved areas, seat installation and events space for the televisual screening of major events for the public to view.
The project was made possible by accelerated funding from the Government, intended to boost the economy in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding money will also be used on several other projects planned for the Workington area
The UK wide lockdown brought works to HIP car park at Barrow-in-Furness to a halt, deemed as non-essential for manufacturing and construction.
PMS worked with main contractors, Thomas Armstrong Construction Ltd. to get our teams back on site as soon as was safely possible once restrictions eased, continuing with the manufacture and erection of 550 tonnes of structural steel, now complete.
The construction project on the Farm Street site sits on the historical Vickers shipbuilders yard, and is now home to a 2-storey car park; servicing BAE Systems, who are responsible and unique in the design and building of the UK's next generation of nuclear submarines.
Employees from Thomas Armstrong Group have held their annual food collection and this year it offered their generous food donations to The North Lakes Food Bank.
People are using the services of a local food bank, many for the first time, as Furlough, lack of employment and other issues take their toll, as we continue through the COVID Pandemic.
North Lakes Foodbank were very grateful for our continued support, contributing to the help they provide to vulnerable people across Allerdale and Copeland.
