Buzz Station, Whitehaven
The project comprised the complete refurbishment/re-build of the existing Bus Station and associated adjacent office building into a new Innovation Warehouse for BEC. The space has been transformed to provide modern, flexible office space with a café-bar on the ground floor.

The project involved the design, supply and completion of two extensions of 7076m2 & 3496m2 to the existing Pirelli tyre factory in Carlisle.
Extension of Banbury Mixer Room – 3 Storey 28m high steel framed building including independent mezzanine structure, Kingspan cladding to walls and roof, installation of internal crane, goods lift, ventilation, welfare/office/WC facilities.
Quantiplex 14 Bay Extension - Single storey steel framed structure with Kingspan cladding, fire zone between existing factory and new area.
External service yard, maintenance access road and associated drainage.

Plot 1 Barrow Island
The construction of a new two storey office building. The built structure needed to provide ‘top-end’ office accommodation facility for multi-use varying businesses and their occupants.
The construction consisted of piled foundations, steel frame, precast block & beam ground floor, in-situ concrete first floor with external wall made up of metal stud inner leaf, masonry / render outer leaf together with aluminium windows and curtain walling and standing seam metal cladding on the roof. Internally metal stud partitions, doors, suspended ceilings complete with M&E services including a lift. External works including roads, foot paths and landscaped areas.

Windermere Jetty:
Museum of Boats, Steam & Stories
The scheme involved the construction of a new boat museum on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park with associated facilities. The new buildings will provide a main exhibition space, a conservation workshop and gallery, a shop, café, educational learning space and administration space for staff. A wet dock allows a display of boats on the water within the museum.

Proposed Car Park Re-development
This contract consisted of 2 phases, phase 1 being the extensive land remediation works followed by the construction of 11 No. light industrial workshops with 35 car parking spaces and associated external works & drainage, along with a public car park for 295 spaces and also the construction of a large attenuation pond for surface water.
Phase 2 was the completion of the shell construction of a Pioneer Food Hall including coffee shop along with a 46-space car park.

West Cumbria House Car ParkROADS AND SLOPES
East Slopes and Carriageways
The works involved repairs to roads and slopes following Storm Desmond in 2015. Works were undertaken on 6no separate sites from Patterdale near Ullswater to Warcop, off the A66, in the far east of the county.
Thomas Armstrong had to develop some initial designs that were put together by CCC, to full design and build status. The two main packages were the stabilisation of a slope at Grisedale Lane near Patterdale using rock armour to prevent future erosion by the river and secure the integrity of the road above. In the same area, at Hartsop, we undertook concrete underpinning to a stone wall within a river that had been undermined and washed out during the flooding, to prevent future wall and road collapse.
Other works included road and drainage improvement works at Mungrisedale, Warcop and Bampton to Burnbanks. The reprofiling of a riverbank at Warcop that had collapsed, including the installation of rock rolls and willow planting to stabilise the new slope.

Castleway Crossing Carlisle ProjectCYCLEWAYS
Viking Way, Gosforth to Seascale
3km cycleway between Gosforth and Seascale in West Cumbria. This scheme was on an extremely busy access road into / out of the Sellafield Nuclear Complex.
Deliveries were timed to avoid peak traffic at shift changes. Temporary traffic signals were used to control traffic and provide a safe working area. Landowners were kept informed throughout to enable farm tasks to continue throughout the contract period.

This prestigious project involved the comprehensive refurbishment of a fabrics factory to provide a new specialist training centre and office accommodation. The building officially opened in September 2017 and now provides a variety of vocational engineering related subjects to students and commercial clients. Works included:
- Re-roofing and cladding with feature front façade
- Forming new modern classroom accommodation internally using high performance partitions
- Forming office accommodation to the front of the building using blockwork
- Renovation of the workshop floor involving the application of a new epoxy finish
- New electrical installation including a comprehensive IT installation throughout the building with A/C to major offices and a proportion of the classrooms

The Coniston Inn, Coniston
(Formerly The Waterhead Hotel)
The project comprised the design and construction of refurbishment works and the provision of an extension to the existing Waterhead Hotel in Coniston.
The work included the conversion of the existing 24-bed premises and provision of a new 23-bed extension to create a 47-bed facility with kitchen redevelopment, car park and associated external works. All works are designed to achieve the design criteria, SBEM calculations etc. to provide proof of compliance for the public circulation and ancillary non-residential areas

The Coniston Inn, Coniston ProjectNew Lidl & WCF Stores, Cockermouth
The project involved the construction of a new WCF Pet & Equestrian store to replace the existing store, still trading on-site, then demolishing the existing store including remediation works and removal of any asbestos materials, this would then allow the new Lidl store to be constructed. The construction of both stores included:
- Steel framed buildings with traditional strip/pad foundations
- Insitu concrete floors
- Elevations were a combination of cladding, timber boarding, stone and render
- Aluminium windows and doors
- Curtain walling
- Phased installation of two King Post retaining walls 120m in length and average 3.50m high
- Associated external works, car parking & drainage

The project involved the construction of a new Costa Drive Thru within the existing car park in London Road Retail Park, Carlisle.
Works included breaking out, new foundations, mains drainage connection to existing, new steel frame, new roof cladding & flashing, blockwork, new windows & doors, external render, new incoming services, external lighting, hard & soft landscaping, surfacing and four electric car charging points.

Costa Drive Thru, Carlisle ProjectCenter Parcs, Penrith
This project involved the construction of 34No. new timber frame lodges, consisting of 14No. two-bed executive lodges, 7No. three-bed executive lodges, 12No. three-bed executive lodges offering a hot tub experience and 1No. six-bed single storey lodge.
Also included was the demolition of the existing arrivals lodge to make way for 120 additional parking spaces, adjacent the existing main car park and a new 10 bay arrivals lodge building which is to be erected as part of the scheme located to the north east of the main car park.

The project was built on piled foundations, blockwork cavity wall, rendered with slate roof. The flats have concrete floors and staircase and the houses have timber floors and timber staircase. Timber trussed roof to all properties.

Vine Terrace, Penrith Project7 Dwellings at Spring Close, Threlkeld
The project involved the construction of 7 new two storey affordable rented homes on a greenfield site. The development, in the Lake District National Park at the foot of Blencathra, consists of 2 No. 3-bedroom houses, 4 No. 2-bedroom houses and 1 No. 1-bedroom house.
The houses are traditional masonry blockwork with rendered elevations, slate roof with mock dormers and mock chimneys and feature stone porches to the front elevation. Externally each house has a garden to the rear and parking to the front, there is also some open space around the properties which has been grass seeded, giving the properties a spacious rural aspect.
